Let us start with 3 things.
- The Lord Jesus Christ did NOT die on ‘Good Friday’
- The tradition of man shows they cannot count to 3 because he was not in the ground 3 nights if he died on Friday and rose on Sunday (which is the first day of the week)
- Easter is mentioned in the scripture of truth BUT it was recorded by the Spirit to have been a period of time that Herod the pagan king of Israel honored after he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
Let us look at Christ Jesus who Paul the apostle to the Gentiles says is OUR PASSOVER and died on Thursday according to the tradition of the Jews called Passover.
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
1 Corinthians 5:7 King James Bible (Pure Cambridge Edition)
As you can see in the calendar, the Lord would have died on Thursday to have been in the heart of the earth 3 nights according to what he said which matched the allegory with Jonas.
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Matthew 12:40 King James Bible (Pure Cambridge Edition)
What we also know from the scripture of truth is that the Lord was raised AGAIN (the first time was at Calvary) on the first day of the week and “If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater.” So after the 7th day of the Jewish Passover tradition instituted by God we have the lamb of God as “our passover” being raised on “the first day of the week.” Wonderful to the believer on how it all comes together from beginning to end because the scriptures testify of his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
Mark 16:9 King James Bible (Pure Cambridge Edition)
Let us also look upon what God the Father was showing us for our learning in the scripture of the prophets via the exodus of the Jews from Egypt.
For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
Exodus 12:23 King James Bible (Pure Cambridge Edition)
Believers today have the blood of the lamb of God and belief in Jesus which saves them from the second death. It is also interesting to note that the LORD smote “all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast” and his only begotten Son is “the firstborn of every creature.”
Lastly, with this brief rebuke of ‘good Friday’ and Easter, we need to look at WHY the word Easter shows up in the word of God, the King James Bible.
Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
Acts 12:1-4 King James Bible (Pure Cambridge Edition)
Do you understand in the scripture above, we see that HEROD the pagan king was the one who took a break from killing the apostles of the Lord to celebrate a time called Easter.
Easter is recorded by the Spirit of God in his word to show us that Herod celebrated it, and if Herod just killed James the brother of John, do you think he was doing it for the Lord Jesus Christ’s resurrection? The answer is, no. Herod was honoring a pagan tradition called Easter. Most so-called believers celebrate Easter not knowing why they call it that because it shows their ignorance of scripture because they are poor in spirit.
If we wanted to truly honor the day itself, we would call it something like Resurrection Day, but to the lost, that is NOT a good thing.
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
Acts 17:31 King James Bible (Pure Cambridge Edition)
The resurrection to a believer is wonderful! The resurrection to a lost man or woman is proof that your judge is alive and well at the right hand of the Father because as it is written, “he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
Remember…
no lie is of the truth.
