NASA is getting serious about UFOs.
NASA’s new chief is setting up an effort to further study unidentified flying objects within his first month in office.
Bill Nelson, the former Florida senator and spaceflight veteran, told CNN Business’ Rachel Crane during a wide-ranging interview on Thursday that it’s not clear to anyone — even in the upper echelons of the US space agency — what the high-speed objects observed by Navy pilots are.
Nelson added that he does not believe the UFOs are evidence of extraterrestrials visiting Earth. “I think I would know” if that were the case, Nelson said. But, he acknowledged, it’d be premature to rule that out as a possibility.
Nelson’s comments echo the findings of a new Pentagon report expected to be released later this month. Five sources familiar with the results of that study told CNN that US intelligence officials found no evidence that the UFOs are alien spacecraft, but investigators also have not reached a definitive assessment as to what these mysterious objects might be.
“We don’t know if it’s extraterrestrial. We don’t know if it’s an enemy. We don’t know if it’s an optical phenomenon,” Nelson said. “We don’t think [it’s an optical phenomenon] because of the characteristics that those Navy jet pilots described … And so the bottom line is, we want to know.”
NASA press secretary Jackie McGuinness said Nelson did not establish a formal task force to begin investigating UFOs. However, he did direct researchers to move forward with exploring any lines of questioning around the topic as they see fit.

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is taking a closer look at what it describes as “unidentified air conditions,” according to The South China Morning Post. This appears to be China’s version of the US military’s “unidentified aerial phenomena.”
“The frequent occurrence of unidentified air conditions in recent years… brings severe challenges to air defense security of our country,” said Chen Li, a researcher with China’s Air Force Early Warning Academy, in a 2019 report to the country’s top information technology scientists attained by the South China Morning Post.
One way China seems to stand out from the US is their use of AI in order to study the unidentified craft.
Li said that AI can “think outside the box” by connecting seemingly disparate pieces of data sets from various locations and times. Doing so can help the PLA more quickly and concretely assess whether the UFOs are craft from hostile countries, a natural occurrence, or even something otherworldly.
Though this is likely to fuel even more speculation about visitors from other planets, many Chinese scientists and officials believe that most — if not all — of the UFO activities are either man-made or naturally occurring. However, their counterparts in the US are starting to warm up to the idea that it could possibly be aliens.

German Study Finds Lockdown “Had No Effect” In Stopping Spread Of COVID.
A major new study by German scientists at Munich University has found that lockdowns had no effect on reducing the country’s coronavirus infection rate.
“Statisticians at Munich University found “no direct connection” between the German lockdown and falling infection rates in the country,” reports the Telegraph.
The study found that, on all three occasions before Germany imposed its lockdowns in November, December and April, infection rates had already begun to fall.
The R rate – the number that indicates how many other people an infected person passes the virus to – was already under 1 before the lockdown restrictions came into force.
A leaked study from inside the German Ministry of the Interior revealed that the impact of the country’s lockdown could end up killing more people than the coronavirus due to victims of other serious illnesses not receiving treatment.
This is by no means the only study to have concluded that lockdowns are completely useless and don’t work.
A peer reviewed study published in January by Stanford researchers found that mandatory lockdowns do not provide more benefits to stopping the spread of COVID-19 than voluntary measures such as social distancing.
